Learning from the inside out

I’ve actually always been somewhat of a mix of nerdy scientist, curious somanaut, playful elf, dancing diva, and sparkling introvert. My soul loves to discover and explore and its most favorite themes are pure holistic vitality, life, and essence in being.

I vividly remember wanting to be an ethologist* as well as a dancer. And in a way, that’s what I’ve been doing for the last 20 years. Basically, I help my clients, using somatic awareness, dance, movement, and creativity, to do a field study of themselves, their behavior, by observing, feeling, and examining the way each of us moves based on our unique connection to the environment and our entirely unique ways of perceiving, feeling, thinking, and doing.   And the beautiful thing is that with the self-knowledge we gain, we can make the right choices to dance through life physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually with spontaneous ease, and joy.
*Ethology or behavioral biology is a part of zoology that focuses on the study of the behavior of animals and also humans.

Part of me can totally lose myself in the fascinating science behind what moves us and how it moves us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. That led me to learn about complex systems, neuroscience, the psyche, human biology and how the body wants to and can move, interspecies communication forms, and the magic of life energy

But as a kinesthetic and organic learner, evidence and understanding always come from my own felt experiences. When my mind discovers something interesting, my body and soul engage in the sensual, exploratory, experiential part of the adventure. Creatively and playfully dancing with the knowledge, dissecting and integrating these fascinating chunks of knowledge into somatically deeper knowing; my own wisdom.

It took me a while to realize that this attitude in learning can be summed up in the word ‘curiosity. Curiosity is one of the great gifts of life that all beings share.  It is the basis for the thriving, continuous learning and expanding networks that our nervous systems can be. And it has been my lifesaver so far, turning most of my problems into challenges and opportunities to learn and grow.
